No amount of self-inflicted paralysis or hiding under the covers will help in this scenario. So, tonight before bed, take a moment to confront all of your torments and tormentors and tell them out loud (yes - out loud) you just don’t have space for them in your dreams. Rewire your dark thoughts to be light and uplifting and ease into sleep knowing that your demons are easier dealt with during daytime hours. Cast away those monsters under the bed. You deserve restful and rejuvenating sleep and sweet and delicious dreams!

Retreat, relaxation, rest and a time to recharge - this is what we think of when we think of the Four of Swords. But, it’s really so much deeper than that. Sometimes it is essential to withdraw, but inactivity can only get you so far. If you are taking a break to rejuvenate, how do you rest while actively moving toward that renewed sense of self? Start by connecting to your roots. Ancestry has a way of protecting us, even though we can’t see or feel it everyday. As you are retreating from the world, take a moment to remember and thank the spirits that have laid the ground work for your existence. How have their past actions and efforts informed your own personal growth? Close your eyes, take a deep breath, imagine you are a strong and fierce tree stretching toward the sun. Who planted that seed? Can you feel them looking over you - watching you sway in the breeze? They are there with you, protecting you from the elements and making sure you see enough rain. In storms or sunshine, you can channel this energy - but only if you recognize that it is there. When you feel fatigued and you want to surrender to the weariness of life, allow this to be the spirit that reinvigorates your motivation. And remember this energy is with you always.

Jumping out of my deck today were these three cards - Justice, Ace of Swords, Ace of Pentacles. They literally jumped out while I was shuffling, calling out to be seen… Cut through the cycle of thinking that opportunity is “either or”. You can have both mental and financial growth. If you truly commit to the ideas swimming around in your head and the ways in which you might market them, potential is there for the taking! You may have to work really hard and apply extreme discipline to achieve the gain you long for, but you will be rewarded if you do. There are two sides to who you are that should be utilized in this scenario - the free flowing ideas and creative brain should meet the critical and ruthless boss that hides underneath the surface. Consider this a partnership of the strengths that you hold within. As you move forward in your quest, examine your progress through the eyes of both to fully realize your success. Cut through the bullshit and get down to business. Don’t let your potential slip away…

I decided to pull two cards today from my favorite new deck - The Light Seer’s Tarot. I was struck to the core by the message. How are you channelling your energy, friends? Sometimes, the darker parts of who we are can provide us with potential we have yet to discover. If you are feeling like everything you have bottled up within needs to be expelled and you dream of pouring it all out and saying goodbye - I say WAIT! Before you let go of your potent and dark sagacity and watch it drift away, pause a moment and get curious about it. Ask yourself, “What are these feelings that I hold on to? Where do they come from? How can I channel them in a different way?” You may not see it right now, but you have an opportunity to use this energy to harness your own power and truly create some magic. Look at these cards and see how they fit so perfectly together - if you were to merge them, the images would seal your vitality and spirit together in a perfect symbol of infinity (also seen on the Magician’s hood). It’s intriguing to me that this card keeps popping up for us, both upright and reversed. Yesterday, I doing a reading for a client where it appeared to be hovering above them and now today I pull it again. Hmmmm…Obviously, we are in a tricky time right now. We have all, in varying degrees, experienced the loss of some kind of wealth - financial, personal, emotional or other. Things in our lives that we felt a certain ownership of have slipped away. Familiarities we had come to rely upon have shifted and morphed. The ability to control and design our destinies has dissipated. Security is a huge question mark for so many of us. This collective transformation has been both exciting and unsettling, as our dreams mutate. Recognize that this hesitation to embrace the unknown is a shared experience. Know that you may not be able to indulge in all of the luxuries you once took for granted, but that doesn’t mean your life is void. See if you can find new ways to be and feel juicy. What elements of your life still make you feel like a boss? How do you truly appreciate those moments and celebrate them? How do you expand upon them? Take what you have and make it into so much more! This is your challenge today and everyday.

Is it slightly unnerving to me that I pulled The Death Card earlier as the card of the day on the day of our election? Not going to lie - it is. I decided to meditate on the card throughout the day until it felt right for me to write about it. That time is now. Death is unavoidable and life is impermanent. But, some believe it allows us to be reborn and have a chance at life again, but from a different perspective. I have always loved this idea - it gives great purpose to life if you believe this. What is it like to come back in someone else’s skin, in another time and try your luck again and again? Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could recall all of these experiences? How would that knowledge shift our understanding of community and each other? What if you faced death and saw trees, stars, skies and life renewed? Here’s the thing about this election - the decision “is what it is”…lasting for only 4 years. It feels eternal, but it’s not. We keep going, beyond this decision. We will, collectively, keep moving forward and maybe we’ll figure out that human understanding is an essential part of this existence, no matter what decision is defined. We are being called to lay down our differences and be reborn, beyond the next four years…beyond the next forty years! Finality is just a part of this experience -the part of this that pushes us toward prosperity, community and rebirth. Here’s hoping…
